Lip and facial balancing
Dermal filler
Dermal filler is used to add subtle definition or restore balance, most often to the lips, but also to soften areas that have lost volume over time.
The aim here is never a dramatic change. Most people want to look like themselves, slightly more rested. If what you are asking for would not suit you, or would not do what you are hoping, you will be told that at consultation.
Who it suits
People looking for a subtle, natural-looking change, who are happy to build gradually rather than do everything at once.
Aftercare
- Avoid makeup over the area for the rest of the day.
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours, which can worsen bruising.
- Do not massage or pick at the area unless you have been told to.
- Get in touch straight away if anything feels wrong, such as blanching, severe pain, or worsening rather than improving.
Questions
Will it look obvious?
It should not. The approach is conservative and built up over appointments rather than done all at once. If you want a very dramatic result, this may not be the right place for you.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing cream is applied first. Most people find it very manageable, though the lips are more sensitive than other areas.
What if I do not like it?
This is exactly what the consultation is for: to agree what we are doing and why before anything happens. Concerns afterwards should be raised as soon as possible so they can be looked at properly.
